The chauvinistic forces influential in the Syrian authorities have targeted the Kurdish people in 12 March of 2004 in the west of the Kurdistan and Syria, cited dozens of honour and dignity, Kurdish freedom of thought and expression. Hundreds were wounded and thousands were detained and subjected to brutal torture at the hands of Syrian security forces.

The Syrian government is still continuing their hostility of the Kurdish people to pursue the policy of Arabization. The displacement, starvation, repression and intimidation expelled the Kurds from the posts, made decisions to build new settlements and to deny the Kurds from their lands. Every attempt of the democratic expression of the suffering of Kurdish have brutally been suppressed, with no hesitation to cover up the gangs’ security in the murder of Kurdish youth in the Nawrouz 2008. The total number of people killed since 2004 is more than fifty, with hundreds arrested and thousands displaced. The recently issued Decree 49 deny the Kurds to live on their ancestral homeland. In the start of this year, more than 150 Kurdish members of our party, politicians and Kurds people, have been arrested during the months of January and February 2009.

The democrats in the world:

All these practices indicate that the Syrian government flout all the laws of human rights and neglect the democratic forces and human rights in the world, taking advantage of the international silence towards the Kurdish issue and the dispersion of the forces of peace and democracy. The pressure and the oppression of the Kurds will lead to a deeper social and economic crisis in Syria and the Middle East, which will have a negative impact on the democratic process and a culture of peaceful coexistence. That’s what we observe today. The expansion of the mentality of intolerance and extremism in the Middle East and in the world is a result and a reflection of those regimes’ anti democratic and anti human rights practices. The dictatorial regimes are producing the intolerance, extremism and hostility between our communities, and make them unable to realize its ambition for stability and integration among them. This is incompatible with the principles of the evolution of human society and in the integration of social and economic well-being.

We, the Democratic Union Party PYD, insist on the development of our democratic process and continue our struggle for the democracy in Syria and to gain the Kurds legitimate rights. We call upon the forces of democracy and international human rights organizations to stand by our Kurdish people. We invite them to the coalition to work together for the globalization of civilization democracy and human rights in alliances to confront the forces of evil and injustice of authoritarian regimes, particularly the Syrian Baathe regime.

-To work to build bridges of love and friendship between our peoples.

-The globalization of democracy is the way to build a world of peace and prosperity.
